The Standard edition of Smart PDF Creator is an efficient conversion tool that allows you to transform your DOC files – or any other printable Windows file – into PDF documents in batches.

Though it can be used as a standalone application, Smart PDF Creator integrates perfectly with MS Word and with Windows context menus to provide you with one-click creation and conversion capabilities.

The one-window program’s interface shows the three steps required to convert your Office files into PDF documents easily and quickly. You can add as many files as needed to your conversion list, regardless of their type and size. Smart PDF Creator supports not only Word documents (DOC, DOCX, or RTF), but also HTML and TXT files, together with some of the most popular image file formats, such as JPEG, TIFF, PNG, and BMP.

The second step allows you to customize your resulting PDF files in various aspects. You can choose whether to compress your PDF files or not, to make them searchable by including the real text of the document and not just images of the source pages, to embed the fonts or not, to add or edit the metadata of the PDF file, to specify a page layout, and the level of compression you would like the program to apply to the images in the resulting PDFs. You can also add different layers of protection to your PDFs (according to the PDF protection standards) – thus, you can encrypt your documents, add passwords to them, and define the actions that the user will be allowed to perform on your PDFs.

The third and last stage will let you select a destination folder and will ask you to click on the “Convert” button to launch the conversion process. However, as said, conversion through the standalone version of this tool is not the only way of creating a PDF file from a Windows document. During the installation process, you will be asked whether you wish to add a Smart PDF Creator toolbar to your MS Word and to add some conversion and edition options to the Windows context menu, so that you can right-click on any file and convert it into PDF or edit it without opening the program.
